In order to multiply a scalar by a matrix we just need to multiply all the elements (or numbers) of the matrix times the given scalar. So then we would have:

          5    - 4      7                                                    4(5)      4(- 4)     4(7)                                            20     - 16      28

E =    3      4     - 3         -------------------->   4E =    4(3)       4(4)       4(- 3)     ----------------->  4E =   12       16     - 12

          6      1       1                                                   4(6)       4(1)       4(1)                                            24        4         4


Final answer:

             20  - 16     28

4E =     12    16    - 12

             24     4       4
