Introduction
Industrial/Organizational psychologists have tasks that involve the comprehension of complex
factors at the workplace and most importantly shaping the workplace in regards to legal and
employment issues. I/O psychologists must, therefore, guide organizational decisions, policies,
and procedures to conform to constitutional standards while at the same time meeting the
preferences of the employees. This essay will shed light on some hypothetical situations by
answering some questions.
Violation of Employment Laws
An example of an employment law violation that I have personally witnessed is due
compensable time. Employees in my neighborhood experience difficulties understanding
employment laws and therefore they have limited knowledge on matters on vacation,
compensation time, commissions, and many more factors. In the event of a violation regarding
unpaid compensable time, a section of employees does not receive regular wages for the time
