American Interest in the Middle East
The United States has taken part in the global “war on terror”, this is after Al Qaeda
attacked New York and Washington DC, on 11 September 2001, popularly known as 9/11
attacks. US 43rd US president, George Bush launched the war on terror (Fanack Home, 2019).
The US troops have been in Afghanistan since 2001 and the funding sources of these terrorists
have reduced. People hoped for the elimination of this terror group because Peaceful Arab
uprising came up. On 2nd May 2011 Osama Bin Laden was killed and all of Al Qaeda’s
operations halted. Al Qaeda however re-emerged with new leadership, and the war on terror
failed to eliminate Al Qaeda.
