Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Urination is the release of urine from the urinary bladder through the urethra to the outside of the body.In normal human being urination is voluntary. In infants some elderly people and those with neurological disorders urination is involuntary.

similarities of the two mechanism.

in both the organs involved are the kidneys, urethra and the urinary bladder.

also in both the sphincter muscles of the urinary tract are involved

also in both urine is produced

What carries the day is the difference between the two.

in voluntary urination

The mechanism by which voluntary urination is  that the voluntary relaxation of the muscles of the pelvic floor causes a sufficient downward tug on the urethral muscles to initiate its contraction hence release of urine. also  the excitation  of neurons in the brain ,  causes concurrent contraction of the bladder and relaxation of the sphincter hence release of urine.

in the involuntary urination the bladder loses control over its muscles hence no relaxation of the muscles or excitation of the neurons hence upon urine reaching the urethral bladder it is released involuntary.

some of the causes of this may be some benign disorders, stress epilepsy among others.
