The nurses represent one of the most important elements in the health care industry and
also the largest section when referring to care providers. Statistics reported by the World Health
Organization states that around 29 million are working worldwide, and 3.9 million are actually in
the United States. Even so, hospitals are facing a shortage due to various causes such as high
turnover, inequitable distribution of workforce and also due to lack of potential educators. It is
approximated that by the year 2020, at least one million additional nurses will be needed to solve
this problem. (WHO,2018)
