Multiply equation (1) by -1

x + 4y = 8

So both equations represent the same line and all the points on the line is a solution.

They must satisfy y = (8 - x)/4

x + 2y + 2 = 0 ---(1)

-x - 2y = -2 ---(2)

From equation (1)

2y = -x - 2

$y=-\frac{1}{2}x-1$

From equation (2)

-2y = x - 2

$y=-\frac{1}{2}x+1$

So both equations have the same slope of -1/2 and different y intercepts which means they are parallel lines.

Hence, the system of equations has no solution.
