Yes I do think success in home country does make companies bit arrogant. Since they understand the mindset and preferences of consumers in their home country they have it easier to contemplate solutions.
Now believing that same strategies that worked in their home companies, can help companies perform better internationally doesn't always work since market models and consumer preferences might vary a lot in different countries.
Example is Uber when they first entered India they thought by keeping prices high they can straightaway make some profits but it didn't work and they had to than chage their market strategy in India to lure more customers.
