The issue of food is a sensitive issue as it cut across many countries across the world. The
level of food production within a country is a very major determinant for its food Security.
Several factors lead to food insecurity within countries, these various interactions within
societies lead to multiple impacts on the various aspects such as the economy, the social aspect
not leaving behind the political aspect of the countries. One country in the world that is faced by
low food production is that results in food insecurity are Chad. For a number of reason, Chad has
had problems to do with their food security ever since their independence. This has led to its
recognition among the countries with food issues across the world.
Causes of Food Shortage in Chad
There are a number of reasons for low food production in Chad. One of the reasons is the
poverty that is widespread across the country. Chad has more than 87% living below the poverty
line (Hansen, 2015). This kind of poverty puts a more significant part of the population in a
position where they are more focused on putting food on their tables rather than food production
(Poulsen, McNab, Clayton, & Neff, 2015). The individuals are constantly faced by hunger and
only think about the satisfaction of their immediate need. This has reduced the efforts they input
