1. An experiment consists of selecting a card from a standard deck of playing cards and noting whether the card is black (B) or red (R). Describe an appropriate sample space for this experiment.

Standard deck of playing cards consist's of 32 cards. 1/2 of them are black and 1/2 are red.(16/16)

Possibility of selecting the red card from deck is equal to 1/2 so it is elementary event.

Oh i see. If you pick only 1 card, so the answer is D. You can pick red one or black one.
