Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!
I had applied for a sales job in a well recognized firm dealing in petroleum products. As expected I looked sharp and smart, I was also well prepared for the interview. I had all information about the company directors at Shell and all information I could get about the firm's operations.
The first question in that interview completely changed my hope to ever work in Shell. I was asked about a real life experience.
Imagine you have been hired at Shell and you were sent to represent your boss in a meeting. What would be the best way to introduce yourself?
That question found me unaware. Since I did not expect that, I decided to play smart. I simply answered that I would introduce myself as Githu and proceed with the meeting.
Little did I know that I would lose my opportunity at that point. I was actually expected to start by thanking the panel for according me the opportunity to attend an interview in the firm. I also was expected to start the introduction by saying my full names and the firm I was representing in the meeting before anything else.
Please let me know if you need any clarification or modification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
Thank you for offering me this opportunity.
