Abstract

Biometric Screening Targets

Understanding the current state of the health of the patient represents the key step
when trying to improve it. Biometric screening has the role of determining the values
of different parameters (such as blood glucose level, waist circumference, body
length, etc) which put together can fit the patient into a specific category when it
comes to risk level. High-risk patients will have more chance of developing a specific
pathology such as diabetes or hypertension in the upcoming years which means that
lifestyle changes should be conducted. On the other hand, low-risk patients should
continue following their current routine in order to prevent becoming ill.

What is Biometric Screening?
Biometric screening is also known as biometric assessment and it represents a
clinical analysis which focuses on reporting the vital health status of the patient.
The role of these screening is to determine if the person in cause suffers from any
diseases or if based on the results he or she is at high risk. If it were to analyze the
words bio comes from life while the metric for measurement. In a brief explanation,
biometrics refers to "measure the health of the patient". Even though it might be
hard to understand it, it is nothing else than a form of physical examination,
frequently done at the workplace, by a nurse. The most important parameters are
those characterizing basic physical traits such as blood sugar, cholesterol level,
height, and weight. By combining these values and comparing it with other
recorded values, the overall wellbeing of the patient can be determined. The entire
screening takes a few minutes and is part of the health plan. Even so, this should
never replace the annual checkup which is actually an in-depth version of biometric
screening trying to diagnose other pathologies too .
