Reflection Paper The final project is a 5-6 page reflection paper that includes your critical analysis of your learning process throughout the semester (pages 1 and 2) and the analysis of the two organizations you chose to engage in for your second video speech (Pages 3 to 5-6). 1. On pages 1-2, include your growth as a scholar in trying to understand civic engagement with an intersectional approach. What were your initial thoughts about civic engagement? How did our reading materials and discussions contribute to a broader understanding of social change and civic engagement? What were some of your favorite pieces? Why? Which pieces did you have issues with? Why? 2. On pages 3-6, include your analysis of the research findings based on the interviews you carried out (if you interviewed people). Analyze the language that is included on the websites you researched. What can you say about the rhetoric they use? Is it inclusive? Do they take into account diversity and intersectionality? How so? Focus on the language and their initiatives to promote civic engagement. Please, use Times New Roman, 12 points, and MLA format.

Introduction
Since the start of this class, I have learned that Civic engagement is defined as working in
order to ensure the civic life of the community is changed. I reviewed Center for Race and
Gender Equity. This organization does play important roles such as promoting equity, creating
awareness among people and advocating for drastic changes in society. I also reviewed video on
TED show “The urgency of intersectionality by Kimberle Crenshaw”. The video emphasizes on
the importance taking pragmatic steps to prevent violation of African-American women caused
by violence.

People in a community do not accord gays and lesbians the respect they deserve. The
discrimination sometimes goes to an extent of regarding HIV and AIDS as the disease of the
gays (Hope et al., Pg. 423).
The other group I have also learned through this class that is more likely to face
discrimination is women (Hope et al., Pg. 422). Historically, women were not accorded...
