Public health nursing capitalizes on public health, nursing, and social sciences to protect
and promote populations’ health. In this class, the elements that make up the entire systemic
process in public health nursing were explored. One of the areas covered is the assessment of
health and health care needs for individuals, families, and population groups with the view of
identifying those at risk and those in need of health promotion. I also learnt how to develop plans
that are suitable for different communities with various challenges and resources limitations.
Learning about Implementation of such plans and the evaluation of the impacts on health status
of the target groups was also important. The other key part of this class was learning about
nurses’ role in the formulation of polices that affect disease prevention and care delivery. The
