Description
"Discuss the health concerns of the LGBTQ Asian American communities. In particular, discuss how intersectionality can be used to explain the difficulty in addressing health concerns unique to these communities (for example, gender confirming medications and treatments for transgender, non-binary or gender-nonconforming folk; HIV among men who have sex with men; or increased rates of alcoholism and illicit drug use among queer women’s communities). In your analysis, look up examples of queer Asian American focused nonprofits (for example, San Francisco Community Health Center; Asian Pacific Islander American Health Form; Office of Minority Health; APICHA Community Health Center in New York) to explore unique ways these groups are addressing health disparities along the axes of gender and sexuality in combination with race and ethnicity."

Health concerns of the LGBTQ Asian American communities
Introduction
LGBT individuals continue to increase each day because of their influence in certain
areas including positions of powers and churches as well. As it stands now these individuals
encompass all races, social classes, and religion. It is not possible to single out one race or a
certain religion and directly associate it with these individuals. Gender identity and sexual
orientations questions are rarely included in state and national surveys and this is why it is very
difficult to estimate or establish the actual number of LGBT individuals. This issue is also not
included in many public debates and this makes it difficult to identify the actual challenges and
health needs for these individuals. There is enough evidence based on research to show that
LGBT individuals face health disparities which are mainly linked to denials of both their civil
and human rights, societal stigma, and above all discrimination which is very common. Among
all the issues identified, discrimination is probably the most rampant and has been associated
with suicide, several types of psychiatric disorders, and substance use among LGBT individuals
(Her &Eddy, 99). The essence of this paper is to discuss health concerns of the LGBTQ Asian
Americans and the ways through which these group can address health disparities along with
sexuality and gender in combination with race and ethnicity.

As it stands now it is not possible to continue suppressing the issues that LGBTQ
individuals are facing because they do not just affect them as a group but rather it affects the
entire society. The most important part should be to understand the actual cause of health
disparities among LGBTQ individuals. So far it is clear that Asian American who is part of the
LGBTQ community are largely affected by victimization and violence which is also common to
other races. There are some health concerns that have been associated with this group of
individuals with AIDs and mental health making the top of that list. Mental health is associated
with not just discrimination from family and society at large but also the personal guilt of being
unique. There are some environmental factors that specifically affect LGBTQ Asian American
individuals and these factors have greatly contributed to health disparities among the identified
group.
It is very necessary to improve LGBTQ health and more efforts should be channeled
towards addressing the specific unique cases that have so far been identified. There are several
benefits of addressing the...
