My Interests and Influences
My interests in filming generally emerged from an internship experience back in
Vietnam. By participating and experiencing the filming industry there, I noted that there is not
much emphasis on professional approaches to the trade. Most of the young filmmakers in
Vietnam, for instance, are currently untrained and have only got to learn the business through
apprenticeship or to experience. 90% have not gone to school nor have taken neither class nor
film making college. My main influences to learn the history and the craft are that there are many
independent filmmakers in such countries that are not trained and yet get to adopt some exciting
trends and patterns. The role of training cannot be understated and such forms the significance of
studying film and this course involving the history of the production of independently produced
films. I, however, have a more considerable hope of filling up the gap in the industry in Vietnam
by gaining film making skills from my training and this course and thus contribute positively to
my community.
Film making for me not only involves entertainment but also filming for other purposes
