Explanation & Answer

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Rights of older people are....

(1) Independence...This includes access to basic needs, health care, work, education programs, the right to live in a home as long as possible in supportive safe environment.

(2) Participation...In social activities and opportunities to share their knowledge and skills with their community.

(3) Care...That maintains their optimum level of physical ,mental and emotional well being and includes access to social and legal services.

(4) Dignity...To be treated fairly, to be valued in their own right, to live in dignity, and security, to be free to exploitation, physical and mental abuse.

If I am an older adult and if my rights are violated, I will feel very bad and in this case, I will contact the office of civil rights(OCR)  , Regional office that serves in my state. I will describe my situation in writing toOCR regional staff and they will advise me , also I will file a civil right complaint as advised by OCR office.

OCR office will investigate the complaint and issue a letter of findings and take all necessary action.

Please let me know if you need any clarification. I'm always happy to answer your questions.
