Distinguish among acute, subacute, chronic, and latent diseases.

Acute diseases are those that develop very fast and rapid but last for a short period and then resolve whereas chronic diseases develop slowly and can be progressive or recurrent and are usually less severe. Subacute diseases are those that are in between/intermediate between acute and chronic diseases.Latent diseases are those that the causative organism remains inactive for a period of time within the organism,and when it becomes active,produces disease symptoms.
