About the Performance
Shakespeare’s the tempest that was performed at St. Louis Shakespeare festive is the play
I choose to represent the written play. It is an artistic interpretation of the tempest play. The
performance takes place in a theater with blocks that represent the buildings at that time. There is
a twisted tree at the stage between blocks. The scene is a bit different from the play since the
focus of the play is a storm. The lighting is subtle, with little brightness that changes to darkness
from one scene to another. They conform to the, play that it asserts it a dark time. The costumes
wore changes from one individual to another, the king and family dress in decent clothes while
others attire old and simple garments. They depict the written play of different status of people in
the play. However, the design is of olden time like the storyline. St Louis Shakespeare (2012),
explains that the characters are Prospero, Miranda, Ceres, Juno, Iris, Gonzalo, Ferdinand, Alonso
Antonio, and Caliban. They match the written play, which uses the same names; Miranda is
Prospero's daughter. Alonso is the king, and Ferdinand is the prince. The rest are minor
characters.
The Mood and Tone of the Performance
The performance creates a sad and terrifying mood. The characters' voice tone when
speaking to each other is a low and high tone. The servants, and commoners, particularly the one
dressed in leopard attire speak with a low tone ...
