BP holds the record for the largest corporate fine ever levied against a corporation in the
US when it was fined $4.5 billion because of its culpability for manslaughter charges following
the Deepwater Horizon drilling rig explosion. However, it should be noted that while the fine
sounds, and is indeed enormous, BP continues to be a company that defies odds and rakes
billions from its business portfolio. However, one of the issues that come out from this case is
the applicability of ethics. Ethics is one of the integral elements of any decision-making process.
