Running head: FIELD EXPERIENCE 1 Field Experience Name Institutional Affiliation FIELD EXPERIENCE 2 Field Experience Communication is key to the development of a child. However, from my field observation, children with ASD find it hard to communicate with the rest of the children or even to the seniors making their life difficult. The child I observed was able to use language though in a very limited and an unusual way. Notable is the fact that the child could utter some words and make some sentences though they were all incoherent. This is in addition to their being repetitive on the same issue hence making their conversations somehow boring. This made their social life difficult as the rest of the children were unwilling to associate with them. To mitigate this challenge that they were facing, there was the need to introduce a communication skill that would assist them in developing better communication skills; Encouraging play and social interaction This is an approach that would benefit them positively though it would not come from their fellow children. Parents and teachers should take their time to speak to such children and engage them in play (Autism Speaks 2013). This is meant to continuously improve the communication skills of the child while making them understand the basic rules of grammar in their communication. Language simplification It is important to appreciate the fact that these children have a challenge is understanding the primary language used by all around them (Murray et al., 2016). It is therefore important that the language used is simplified and giving them a chance to learn without any challenges FIELD EXPERIENCE 3 continuously. The use of complex language should therefore not be used in the learning process, and this should be made known to both the parents and the teachers as well.
