Suppose we are building a jewelry box with height h and a square base of side length s. The base and the four sides are all made out of a wood that costs $1 per square inch.The top is made out of a metal that costs $5 per square inch. If the cost for the material in the box is $500, what is the maximum volume the box can have? Hint: The cost of one face of the box is the cost of the material for that face times the area of the face.
