- The general public equates the word “health” with “health care.” Polls asking people about their health typically result in responses about their health care experiences. How would you define health, and how would you assess how healthy a population is if you could ask the people in that population only one question on a survey?
- Why do some refer to the health care system as “the sickness care system”? Do you agree or disagree? Please include your opinion with resources included to support your view.

Healthcare is termed as “the sickness care system” due to the strategies employed by the
country on treating the sick rather than implementing strategic approaches that would help
avoids sickness. The disparity in the health care system is deemed to be caused by the
government’s strategies of focusing largely on treatment of diseases, whereas it has failed to
promote preventive healthcare system in the country. The idea of improving preventive health
strategies is aimed at promoting the implementation of a stable healthcare system that would
focus on preventive measures (Kovner, Knickman, & Weisfeld, 2015). The current healthcare
system focuses on treatment strategies whereby it would focus on prioritizing with precautionary
practices that should help in reducing the cost of health care.
