Primary functions of the body are regulated by chemicals that are found in the
bloodstream called electrolytes. Electrolyte imbalance can occur due to many causes such as;
body fluids lost as a result of prolonged sweating, vomiting, diarrhea or high fever, poor diet and
taking food without vitamins, malabsorption, kidney disease, hormonal disorders or specific
medications. Electrolyte imbalance can cause several symptoms based on the affected level of
the electrolyte. If chemicals are altered, one may experience twitching, weakness, muscle spasm,
or convulsions. When chemicals are low, it results to; changes in blood pressure, confusion,
irregular heartbeat, bone disorders, or nervous system. When chemicals are high, it leads to;
muscle twitching or weakness, fatigue, numbness, irregular...
