Felons and the voting rights
In the United States, there are laws that prohibit felons from voting. However, the laws
seem to be more of preventing a certain race from voting since most of the people convicted are
from the race. Talking of race, I am referring to African Americans who are the most convicted
people meaning if there are no voting rights for the felons, they are the most affected. There is
the need however to allow the felons to vote on the basis that one is not always a criminal.
People make mistakes they never intended and find themselves in jail. Others are jailed for
mistakes they never did but due to lack of supportive defense, they end up in jail. Voting rights
should not be subject to one`s past but should be a way of making the felons feel part of the
community...
