Compensation Strategy for the Imaging Manager at a local Hospital
Week 1; Mapping Compensation Strategies
Compensation is one of the significant approaches used by the organization to influence
the behavior and attitude of the employees. The management of the organization’s compensation
relies on its success in the execution of the strategies through the employees. It is essential to
note that the employees and management have different views on compensation. While the
manager’s perception on compensation is that it is an expense, the employees believe that it is an
entitlement as they should receive the reward for their performance (Milkovich, Newman &
Gerhart, 2017). Therefore, compensation is the primary source of financial security among the
employees, and it has a significant role in their social and economic development, thereby,
compensation has a significant impact on motivating employees.
Company Background
The organization that I have chosen to discuss and compare for this assignment is a local
hospital called Highland Community Hospital. It offers quality patient care and safety (Forrest
Health, 2019). The Hospital has a competent and compassionate staff that addresses the patient
needs and thus, one of the leading hospitals in quality care in the region. The Hospital is in
partnership with other health care organizations to increase the access to patient's quality health
care. Highland Community Hospital aim is to provide quality care and thus defining the
healthcare experience (Forrest Health, 2019). The Hospital has one of the best benefits and
compensation package in the health care industry. The Hospital's philosophy is to communicate
with courtesy and compassion while acknowledging the needs of the patients as well as
respecting and reassuring for positive patient outcome.

Mapping of the Hospital's compensation strategy depends on the decision in the pay
model. The pay model provides the framework used in examining the Hospital's pay system
while considering compensation objectives and the implemented policies to achieve the set goals
(Milkovich et al., 2017). The policy choices range from the alignments, competitiveness,
employee contribution, and the management of the payment system. The policy choices are also
guiding principles for the management to fulfill the system's objectives.
Compensation Objectives
The design of Highland Community Hospital’s objectives is that it supports fairness,
efficiency, and compliance. The company focuses on performance, attracting competent staff as
well as increasing shareholder value and professional development. The Hospital also offers
diversity programs and training of employees. The Hospital has adequate staff, and they receive
decent pay for their performance and other incentives such as incentives for day and night shifts
(Forrest Health, 2019). The total compensation is thus of significant importance to the overall
HR strategy. It plays the leading role in the organization as a compensation strategy motivates
the employees to work towards the achievement of the organizational goals
Alignment
Several factors determine the pay, and they include the market pay rate for the specific
job, the skills and experience, and performance level (Milkovich et al., 2017). The employees
receive bonuses depending on their achievement of specific goals. Therefore, I have the
opportunity to move through the ranks within the organization. When compared with SAS and
Microsoft, Highland Community Hospital is pretty similar to Microsoft, where the difference in
employee pay comes from employee performance. How you are regarded on the job can
significantly impact your career with the Highland Community Hospital.
