CHILD OBSERVATION
It’s a weekend and is sited on a bench in a park. For most families, especially with the
parents and caregivers working 9-5, the weekend is almost the only time they get to spend with
their children for most parts of the day. This park is usually most occupied during the weekends.
Some few yards away from me, is Gerald (as I have heard him being referred to) and his
caregivers. Gerald is approximately a four-year-old. As Gerald stirs with his caregivers, he seems

group as Gerald. They keep talking to Gerald’s caregivers in a familiar way, making me assume
they are people who might be related. They are therefore a part of Gerald’s mesosystem. I also
observe that there are snacks packed where Gerald and his caregivers are sited. The snacks must
have been bought from some restaurant which is now Gerald’s exosystem as it is indirectly
