San Diego is a county located in the California state of the United States. San
Diego is characterized by extensive beaches, natural water harbor, and mild annual climate.
Moreover, the city is also characterized by its close proximity to Hollywood. With all these
factors, San Diego and California at large attract more individuals than any other counties or
state in the United States. On the other hand, homeless people are individuals who do not live in
houses. Therefore, homeless people are therefore individuals who like in hand build structures
like a tent or in vehicles. Homeless individuals are also people who reside in the streets and those
that are unsheltered. Despite the fact that other individuals live in standard houses, people who
reside in transitional houses, safe havens and emergency shelters provided by the government
and other organizations are also considered homeless. Homelessness in San Diego is caused by
numerous aspects which range from overpopulation to the high cost of living in the county.
Homelessness in San Diego continues to escalate due to the increase in a number of residents
that migrate to the county annually.
Statistics denote that more than a quarter of homeless people in the United States
resides in California. The Department of Housing and Urban Development in the United States,
also referred to as the HUB department, denotes that San Diego is one of the counties with the

most homeless individuals in the country (Baxamusa, 1). According to the record, the county is
ranked as number four with regards to the city with the most number of homeless people. As the
fourth-most city with the highest number of homeless people, San Diego County is one of the
most affected cities in the US as far as homelessness is concerned. According to HUB, San
Diego has more than nine thousand homeless residents. The other top three counties or cities
with the most homeless individuals include Seattle, Los Angeles, and New York City. Seattle is a
city located in Washington DC (Ong, 1). On the other hand, New York City has the highest
number of homeless individuals with a population of approximately eighty thousand homeless
individuals. Although this is steeply high, New York is one of the most expensive cities in the
