The system theory framework according to Patton and McHannon, 1999 is based on the individual's chances and change from the past, to the present and to the future.
Some of the factors that make up the STF include the sexual orientations, gender, health, disabilities and beliefs. These are factors that remain constant and are difficult to change in the normal human.
Peers, Geographical location, Political views and the media are some of the rapidly changeable factors that affect the STF. Career counselling bases a big chunk of explanations based on this System Theory Framework.
