Ageism is defined as stereotyping and discriminating against individuals or a group of people due to their age and prejudice against old people and aging process.


1.  Make active older adults visible and important.

2.  Educate and foster more positive public attitudes about aging. People will take aging positive lowering cases of discrimination. They will also learn to support the aging.

3.  Advance social/health policy to provide incentives for active living at all stages of life. This will make it possible to tackle diseases accompanied with aging and the descrimation accompanying them.

4.  Involve older adults in all aspects of community recreation, planning and civic affairs. This works to show appreciation to old people as well as keeping the busy and usefull.

5.  Consider the full spectrum of older adult interests and needs in program design.This will ensure they are incorporated in social programs thus reducing discrimination and stigmatization

6.  Promote intergenerational physical activity. Physical excercising keeps our body feet and reduces pathologies associated with aging and immobility such as blood pressureand other cardiovascular diseases.
