Probability Distribution (Excel)
1. Packages delivered from a local distribution center to their final destination vary between 30 and 240 minutes, and follow a uniform distribution. a. What is the expected value of time it takes for parcels to arrive at their final destination.b. What is the probability that a package takes 60-120 minutes to arrive?c. What is the likelihood that a package takes more than 200 minutes?d. What is the probability that a package takes less than 100 minutes?2. A fleet of vehicles requiring regular maintenance typically cost $980 per month, with a standard deviation of $100, and follow a normal distribution. Two repairs completed recently, costing $1093 and 937, are being assessed to see if the costs are comparable to typical costs. Compute the z-value for each of these costs and comment on the value relative to typical costs.3. The income for mid-level executives is normally distributed, with a mean of $110,000 and standard deviation of $18,000. a. What is the probability of finding an executive whose income is greater than $125,000? b. What is the likelihood of finding an executive who income is less than $115,000? c. What is the probability of finding an executive who income is between $100,000 and $110,000?4. A retail store maintains inventory so that the likelihood of running out of stack (i.e. a stock out) is 5%. If the store anticipates demand for an item to be 10 units per month, with a standard deviation of 1, how many units should be kept in stock? Assume demand is normally distributed, and round your answer to the nearest whole number that ensures stock outs occur no more than 5% of the time.

5388 The University of Texas at Arlington Statistics in healthcare week
This week we will discuss great research questions for predictive designs. A great research question will include all of the variables, identify the predictor and outcome variable, and will imply the measurement scale of the variables. A great research question will also give you enough information to know what statistic(s) will be appropriate to answer the question. The topic for this week's forum is finding a GREAT research question or research hypothesis from an empirical study. It should be so thoroughly stated that we would all be able to have a good idea of the measurement scale of the variables – all of them should be at least ordinal to require linear regression. GUIDELINESPlease copy and paste ONE question/hypothesis (great ones will be one sentence only) and list the citation. Then tell us why YOU believe the variables involved are ordinal/interval/ratio, and WHY regression – in your words. Please make your postings brief by writing succinctly.

BIOS 7000 AT Still University Hypothesis Test Discussion
We are learning about some of the statistical tests that are used to test a researcher's hypothesis on one or two samples. When is it appropriate to use a z-test, a t-test, and nonparametric tests for one sample or two samples? Are you able to use these statistical tests to test your hypothesis from Module 5? Please make sure you justify your answer.

Initial post: 250 words. Reference must not be more than 5 years no plagiarism
References required: total of 2 - 1 can be textbook
Competency:
3. Analyze quantitative and qualitative data using biostatistics, informatics, computer-based programming and software, as appropriate.
Learning Objectives:
1. Discuss hypothesis testing procedures according to variables and the number of samples.
2. Apply appropriate statistical tests for one or two samples.
We will be comparing the suicide rates in essentially two groups
1. The U.S as a whole
2. Young adults
The young adult group is also included in the U.S group. These are not however paired samples since some individuals in the U.S group cannot be matched with someone in the young adult group.
Therefore will be using an independent t-test for two means.
