I need help understanding substitution: Where to subtract '6-2b' from to get that equation?

For the 6-2b 


you have to subtract it from the boxed equation 

a-(6-2b)=2b-3-(6-2b)

a-6+2b=2b-3-6+2b

a-6+6=2b+2b-2b-3

a=2b-3

a-2b=3
