A newborn's first breath must be particularly forceful because they are accustomed to being inside fluid for 10 months instead of breathing air. This is also the purpose why newborns tend to develop water and electrolyte imbalances because their skin in used to being moisturized each second of the day and after they are born their skin tends to try up and loose electrolytes.
