The Impact of Technology on the Cognitive Ability of College Students
Introduction
Undoubtedly, technology has an immense impact on almost everything today. It has
brought better medical care, an easy way to communicate, safer transportation, better learning
experience, and unlimited applications that ease nearly every part of life, including budget
control. As technology continues to advance, college administrators are feeling the pressure to
keep their institution at the progressive state of technology. According to Dahlstrom, Walker and
Dziuban (2014) study, more than 71 percent of students agree to have used free available
technology at school and technological content course such as e-portfolio and e-books in a period
of one year. In the last decade, the U.S enrollment in a fully online course has increased
dramatically. Indeed, it is as if technology incorporation in higher education has no considerable

uploads his or her notes in the form of PowerPoint presentation or PDF on an online platform,
and the student can easily download and read at their convenience. Secondly, E-learning
technology has enhanced teaching and learning activities. For instance, Moodle e-learning has
features that allow a participant to share their knowledge and construct new knowledge within
the course learning space. Use of these technological features greatly enhances the student
learning experience and academic performance. Thus, the positive effect of technology on
college students is undeniable.
Cognitive Ability and Technology
