Question Description

Lithium

Electrons: 3

Energy Levels: 2

Valence electrons: 1

When I draw a remove all the valence electrons, the energy level disappears, leaving it into only 2 electrons.

So For the Lewis Dot Diagram, do I draw 8 dots, or 2 dots?

Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

Lithium only has 3 electrons in total, by losing one electron, it would lose the only electron in its outer shell of electrons, and therefore become smaller in size. Also, electrons are negatively charged, so in losing an electron, the lithium ion would become positive.

The Lewis Dot diagram will have 2 dots!

Let me know incase you need any further help ! Thanks :)
