Length: 6-8 pages, double-spaced, 1-inch margins, 12-point font.
Answer one of the following questions. Your paper should be between 6-8
pages in length. Your answers should incorporate and reflect critical thought
on the readings and discussions. Texts need to be properly cited.

1. Chose a controversial topic or conflict and design a dialogue process
for the relevant community. The community you target could be a
specific school, workplace, local community, religious community,
etc. A comprehensive design should include discussion of the issue
and why it is important, goals, participants, format, location, topic &
questions, and how to create an atmosphere of trust and openness.

2. Discuss the role of dialogue in our society. What is dialogue? Why is
it important? What is the relationship of dialogue and democracy?
How does culture impact dialogue? How is dialogue changing due to
technology? What are its limitations? You must reference class
readings (or outside research) to support your arguments. Use specific
examples of issues and conflicts to illustrate your points.
Note: Referencing the readings is more than just inserting a quote. An “A”
paper will present ideas from the readings (either as a quotes or by
paraphrasing), explain the concept, and discuss how it is relevant to the point
being made. Demonstrate that you understand the readings and can apply the
ideas in support of your arguments. Direct citations are required.
