The UNCRC aims to protect the rights of the child worldwide, it sets standards for penal laws, health care social issues and education that affect the child. America has been reluctant to ratify the treaty giving reasons that it would interfere with sovereignity and federalism of the nation.
In my opinion the UNCRC would affect the American nation positively given that there are gaps that need to filled in regard to protecting the child. for instance a child who is under 18 in American can be jailed without parole, the UNHCR prohibits this cruel and degrading punishment to children. Additionally some of the states in America still allow corporal punishment in schools. in this regard adopting it would curb this. Adopting the UN treaty would also send a good picture of the America in the fight against child abuse and improve its reputation of being champions of children well being.
The fact that the treaty also points out the role of the parents in upbringing of the children makes it lay the best environment of the children. In this case the UN treaty would make a huge difference in protecting the children against torture and cruel punishement.
