Multiple career development theories have been presented in current literature to explain
the techniques that guide people in making such choices in their lives as well as by counselors in
their guidance work. In this view, models employ varying perspectives, which also differ in
significance depending on the person and the current circumstance under which the decision is
being made. For career therapists, choosing the appropriate framework has to be determined by
the fit between its elements as well as those of the client. In this paper, a focused review of two
such theories will be conducted, and their appropriateness for a particular population determined.

Holland’s theory of career choice is based on the assumption that a person’s personality
