Topic Imagine that you have two balloons (or, better yet, actually inflate two balloons, if possible). Create static electricity around one of the balloons by rubbing it against your hair or your sweater and then bring that balloon close to the other balloon, which has not been charged. Try this with at least one other object-and for variety in the discussion, avoid using an object already described by your classmates. Then, for your initial post to the discussion, answer the following questions: What happened with the two balloons? • If the second balloon has a neutral charge, why do they attract? • What else will the charged balloon attract? • When you tried with a different object, what happened? Describe your experience and explain why the balloon did or did not attract the object. Finally, be sure to respond to at least two of your peers' discussion posts. A Quality Response Your response should be a minimum of three posts and should address all criteria in the rubric below: Your initial response should address the questions in the Topic section. It should be substantial and follow the grading rubric below. • Your responses to at least two classmates should focus on creating topical depth connections with peers to gain a varied and new insight into the topic.
