Nail biting as a habit

Biting fingernails can be a habit that usually starts from childhood. 60 percent of children and and 45 percent of teenagers bite nails.Some people bite nails without realizing it

Nail biting as a disorder

Nail biting can also result from anxiety or boredom.It is usually a strange way to react from anxiety and stress.But it is perhaps the most common way adults and children react when they feel tension.


Assessing a person who is used to nail biting can have deformed nails which is as result of biting nails for a long time

also nail biting can cause nails to be red .this can be as a result of biting nails due to disorder or just a habit.

In rare cases nail biting maybe a symptom of obsessive compulsive disorder(OCD) which can be treated from medication
