Description

Peruse the ProQuest database—searching the peer-reviewed research literature for three quantitative research studies illustrating each of the following types of research designs:

  • non-experimental research design
  • quasi-experimental research design
  • true-experimental research design

Prepare a 1 page summary of each study—summarizing the purpose of each study and detailing the pertinent aspects of the research design employed.

  1. Selected studies are to employ quantitative research methods.
  2. Selected studies are to be from peer-reviewed research journals only.
  3. Each summary is to highlight pertinent aspects of the study—per the type of research design illustrated.
  4. Each summary is to be APA formatted and demonstrate graduate level writing skills.
  5. Your essay should be 4-5 pages in length.

Introduction
Research design refers to structure of research holding together all elements on research
projects. In social science, research design is defined as arrangement of elements for sampling
and analyzing data so as to combine significance to research purpose in an economic manner. It
involves planning, structuring, strategizing and investigating concaves in order to obtain quality
data based on research question controlling the variance. According to Akhtar 2016, research
design presents logical basis for anticipating and specifying seemingly countless decisions that
are connected to carrying adequate data collection, processing and analysis. Research design is
based on methodology that expounds once topic, problem statement, objectives, concepts and
hypothesis have been selected, formulated, outlined properly and clearly defined and framed. In
this paper, we are going to address and illustrate three types of research designs: nonexperimental; quasi-experimental; and true-experimental research designs used by scientists in
peer reviewed articles.
Non-experimental research design
Non-experimental research design is termed as the most diverse research design
compared to other research design. Non-experimental design involves pure observation and
results are purely descriptive (Belli, 2008). It comprises of variables which cannot be altered by
researchers and hence assessed as they are. An example of a research article is by Bakker et al.
(2016), titled “Researchers’ intuitions about power in psychological research.” The author argues
that there is statistical under powering of most psychology studies. Analysis of the null
hypothesis significance test is hence a main procedure in psychological research. This is
attributed to overreliance on intuition, prior practice and rule of thumb by researchers in
determination of number of subjects to assess. Th...
