1.Visit the United States Department of Agriculture’s website: www.choosemyplate.gov and scroll down below to find the food groups
2.Click on the food groups and read through the major menu items presented for the specific food groups: 1) All about the groups, 2) nutrient and health benefits, 3) tips to help you and 4) the food gallery.
3.Reflect on your readings, identify what you learned with your/your family’s daily plates. Analyze your plate and/or your family’s plate. Do you think your/your family’s diet healthy? Explain why or why not? What changes would you make to make I more healthy? Also look at the way you shop for food. What factors do you consider? What choices do you make when considering GM foods, nutrient labels, organic or other?

5.Read through the contents on this page and the controversy surrounding the dietary guidelines
6.Research to trace the history of the dietary guidelines in the US
7.Discuss your personal opinions about the history and the current status of the US dietary guidelines.
8.Research to select one country/community/state and do a comprehensive review of its dietary guidelines and how it compares with that of the US giving reasons as to why, providing an analysis of the population explored.
Organize your paper into sections corresponding to the following requirements:
1.Biological basis: Describe basis of daily dietary guidelines and identify the factors influencing the process. Your goal in this section of the paper is to show the instructor that you understand the underlying science behind daily dietary guidelines
2.Social and ethical implications: Without disclosing your personal view about dietary guidelines, provide an analysis of its social and ethical implications on the food choices you make. State the ethical concerns apparent on the GM foods. Your goal in this section is to look at all sides of the issue. In the next section, you will give your opinion.
3.Personal viewpoint. In the previous section, your goal was to be as objective as possible, to look at all sides of the issues. In this section, your goals are to give a personal opinion about the technology and provide a justification of that opinion.
4.Information Literacy: Use at least three (3) quality resources in this assignment, in addition to the listed web sources.Follow the APA guidelines in formatting, citing and listing resources.
