Thank you for the opportunity to help you with your question!

a)Political parties benefited the country during its earliest stages by acting as a political tool which enforced the idea of checks and balances. Political parties assisted in the on-going debate over who should have power: the state or federal governments. Political parties proved to be valuable by contributing to the constitutional idea of checks and balances, and by creating growth and change within the nation by recognizing various interpretations of the Constitution. Political parties also strengthened the political system by allowing the constitution to be interpreted in various ways, which enabled the country to grow and develop. However, on the other side, political parties can sometimes be used incorrectly, and can weaken the political system instead of strengthening it by dividing the country and by sparking petty disputes between interest groups. Political parties may end up governing in their own interests rather than the public interest. On some occasions, party leaders may have to choose between what is best for the public and what is best for their political party.

b) There should be utmost transparency among parties so there is free flow of communication.
