Introduction
In the recent past, social media has been identified as the most used site on the internet. It
consists of many people, including the rich and the poor, the young, and the old. It is estimated
that over fifty million people spend their time on Facebook every second (Asano, 2017). It helps
us in connecting with people around the globe easily. The sites are used by celebrities,
politicians, and even organization as a way to promote their products. President Barack Obama
used social media sites to campaign during his two-term presidential campaigns. It helps him to
reach too many people, and this contributed to his win in the two terms. He sold his manifestos
to the public through his Twitter and Facebook account, which had many followers.
Schema and script theory
In one way or the other, Obama used the schema theory during his presidential bid.
Schema is the current situation of people and having a framework for future understanding
(Srambeau, 2010). For Obama to win in the election, he had to have enough knowledge about the
people whom he was to serve. He used his Facebook and Twitter accounts to make a post about
his manifestos and what people in different counties needs as a way to convince people that he is
