Part 1: Hinduism Overview
Write a 525- to 700-word overview of the history of Hinduism, as well as the importance and
role of the sacred texts. Include an explanation of the rituals, symbols, holy days, and core beliefs
of Hinduism.
The Hinduism religion was found around 4000 years ago near the Indus valley in India. There
is no specific founder of the faith. Hinduism is one of the oldest religions in the world, with
almost 700 million followers. It embraces many beliefs since believers worship Brahman as
their supreme god and still recognize other gods and goddesses. For example, the believers
also worship the gods like Vishnu, Devi, Shiva, Krishna, Lakshmi, and Saraswati. Vishnu is a
god believed to protect and preserve the earth, Devi restores dharma, and Shiva brings
destruction to the universe and then recreates it while Krishna is the god of love, compassion,
and tenderness. Lakshmi is the goddess of purity and wealth. Saraswati is the goddess of
learning. This religion believes that there are multiple ways of reaching out to God (Bhalla,
2015).
Hinduism, as a religion, covers many aspects of life and thus sometimes it’s referred to as
