Dothard v. Rawlinson case
Dianne Rawlinson was seeking employment with prison in Albama Department of
Corrections in the position of being a guard. The Prison Department had some requirements that
they wished their applicants would meet such as 5 feet 2 inches and 120 pounds. Rawlinson
failed to meet the weight requirement and so the department did not hire her. She decided to sue
them claiming that he was discriminated in terms of sex. The U. S. A Region Court for the
Middle District of Alabama passed a ruling in her favor. The court held that weight and height
requirements discriminated most women in the country from securing employment opportunities.
