Introduction
Criminal justice practitioners and policymakers face a significant challenge in
prosecuting hate crimes in society. Hate crimes are diffused and ill-defined set of intolerances
that revolve around hate based on religion, ethnicity, disability, gender, sexuality, and race
(Perry, 2012). The objective of hate crime depends on a country or society. In this hate crime
analysis, the target is the African American population. A brief description, specific case
example, state laws prevalence, data measure collection, and criminological theory will help in
understanding the hate crimes against the African American population in the United States

Brief description
Hate crime is violent, motivated by intolerance and prejudice towards an individual race
or color. Since the past, African Americans have faced discrimination in the U.S. The
government has always been at the forefront in developing policies and regulations that help in
protecting the interest of the African Americans due to hate crimes as evident by important
