Business Analysis Techniques
Business analysts can use either predictive or adaptive techniques to analyze a business.
Two primary techniques can be employed in business analysis – agile and waterfall
methodologies.
The agile technique is adaptive and is suitable business opportunities, risks, and solutions
are unclear. It is most useful when a business is undertaking a product development project or
business transformation projects. In many cases, the analyst may achieve a result that is different
from what was initially planned or expected. This method is faster because it keeps a looser
timeline allowing room for change (Cadle, Paul, & Turner, 2014).
The waterfall technique is best for businesses with clear opportunities, risks, and
solutions. For projects that are strict, and dependent on rigorous standards, the waterfall
technique is necessary because it is more concerned with maintaining the specifications of the
deliverables of the project or business.
