Native U.S. ladies Facing Sexual Brutality
Introduction
In history, the native women of America are an essential symbol as they could perform
home chores such as cleaning, cooking, and weaving in addition to caring for their families.
They were accountable for all the domestic responsibilities irrespective of whether they were
energetic or not. However, the coming of the Europeans ensured a massive impact on the
Native Women lives as issues such as 'violence against the women’ arose. One form of
violence that the Native American Women have been - are still experiencing since the arrival
of the Europeans is sexual violence. Sexual violence against American Native Women, is,
unfortunately, among the critical and predominant subjects in the United States for many
years now. Research indicates that both Alaska and American women are approximately 2.5
(two and a half) are expected to be assaulted sexually or raped compared to other U.S. ladies
(Rosay, 2016). To mean, that Native American women are frequently used as sexual tools
instead of being valued as they should. It was during the colonial period that sex was used as a
tool for war and also colonization. Regrettably, there has not been criminal justice,
responsibility, and jurisdiction in the United States insofar as the 'sexual assault' issue among
the Native women in the U.S. are concerned. The paper shall, hence, cover the sexual
violence aspect against the native U.S. ladies through investigating the causes/reasons as to
why this issue, for eras, has been tenacious. Also, the paper will explore some of the
consequences as a result of sexual harassment against Native U.S. ladies.
American Native Women Colonization
According to Linton (2015), the Department of Homeland Security estimated that 34%
(thirty-four percent of the American Native Women) are sexually assaulted in their lifetime.
In other terms, two in every six Native American Women experience rape cases in their life.
