Introduction

This week I will be talking to parents about sun exposures. The main motivation for this
is because most parents are exposed to the sun since they work in farms. As much as sun
exposure is important for the manufacture of Vitamin D. This is quite important because it
enables the body to absorb calcium which helps our bones to be stronger. However, too much
exposure to ultraviolet rays can cause skin damage, eye damage, immune system suppression,
and even skin cancer. Therefore, everyone needs to protect themselves because when the rays
reach the skin, they cause tanning and burning that causes damage. The risk of damage will
normally increase with the intensity of the exposure (Robinson,2005).
Learning Goals and Objectives
By the end of the session, I should be able to accomplish the following:
✓ Be in a position to understand the amount of sunlight required for one to get the
necessary Vitamin D.
✓ To understand which skin types are more susceptible to sunburns.
✓ To understand how one can shield themselves from the excessive sunlight.
✓ To know which company has the best sunscreen
✓ To understand how to treat a sunburn
✓ To establish what makes skin more susceptible to ultraviolet rays.
✓ The symptoms of a sunburn
✓ How to treat sunburns.

Evaluation
During the presentation this week I had invited a skin specialist from Tree of life skin care
company so that he could be able to test the skin types of the parents and offer them solutions for
the damages caused by excessive sunlight exposure and also brief them on the best products in
the market. There were no placement issues that occurred during the week and the leaders of the
community accorded me all the necessary support needed.
