The period between 1878-1915 was one of the most significant for African Americans as
there were a lot of racial issues facing them in society. The Jim Crow system was on the rise to
mark the struggles that people of color went through to deal with the White supremacy over their
social, economic, and political lives. Discrimination based on race determined the Nadir level of
these individuals who were facing modern slavery. They, however, also had their share of
opportunities as these misfortunes brought about desires for leadership and equality from the
African Americans, marking Nadir as the period of revolution for this group.
The Nineteenth Century was the period of racial confusion as the Blacks had just been
released from slavery, but their status was still unclear. Although they did not work in the fields
under forced labor, they had their shares of obstacles through segregation. Jim Crowism passed
